Monday: The Capitol Hill Civil War Round Table will hear Kevin Weddle discuss his book “Lincoln’s Tragic Admiral: The Life of Samuel Francis Du Pont” at 7 p.m. in the Charles Sumner School, 1201 17th St. NW. Refreshments at 6:30.
May 13: The Civil War Round Table of the District of Columbia will hear Flint Whitlock speak about “Distant Bugles, Distant Drums” at the Fort McNair Officers Club. Sunday: Volunteers in Civil War period uniforms will demonstrate and explain the procedures used during the muzzle-loading era of American arms, at Fort Washington Park, 13551 Fort Washington Road, Fort Washington. Thursday: The Chesapeake Civil War Round Table will hear Trevor Plante of the National Archives discuss Civil War documents in the Archives’ collection and the upcoming traveling Civil War exhibit. 7 p.m. in Room 219 of the Cade Building at Anne Arundel Community College, 101 College Parkway, Arnold. Free. Mr. Plante is the discoverer of a long-missing Lincoln letter.
