SEEN AND HEARD AT NATIONALS PARK

Paul Lo Duca returned from his rehab stint at Class A Potomac with some high praise for the Nationals’ pitching prospects.

“The kid [Cory] Van Allen’s got good stuff, the kid [Jordan] Zimmerman’s got dynamite stuff,” Lo Duca said. “I was impressed with almost all their kids. It’s one of the better A ball clubs I’ve seen.”

Lo Duca caught four games for the Nationals, who are in first place in the Northern Division of the Carolina League. He also singled out Zech Zinicola and Adam Carr on the Nationals’ pitching staff and said the team could win its league if it doesn’t lose too many players to promotions.

“I told them to go ahead and win it so I can get a ring,” Lo Duca said.

BY THE NUMBERS

21 Consecutive scoreless innings John Lannan had thrown before giving up six runs (five earned) in the third inning last night. It was the longest scoreless streak since the team moved to the District in 2005.
