Mike Green sounds like a player ready to return to the Capitals’ lineup Wednesday night for Game 1 against the New York Rangers.

“I’ll be playing,” he said Tuesday. “Expect to see me out there.”

Sounds like a declaration, no? Then, minutes later, coach Bruce Boudreau termed Green a “game-time decision.”

“I think he’s ready to play,” he continued. “It’s a question of how he feels [Wednesday] and if he’s comfortable playing and we’re comfortable putting him in, I guess.”

Around the locker room, players talked in glowing terms about how nice it’ll be to have Green back – in the lineup for the first time since the last time the Caps faced the Rangers, Feb. 25. He’s been skating with John Erskine at practice (and Sean Collins with Tom Poti), which appears to indicate the Caps are at least preparing for Green to play.

And, of course, it’s playoff time. So do you really expect Boudreau to come out and just say Green is playing?
