In his pregame meeting with members of the media, Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau deflected a question about resting guys in the final couple games. He said that would be a decision that can’t be made in advance.

It may not have been made in advance Wednesday, but three top players are sitting out the game against the Panthers and Verizon Center. Alexander Semin, who missed the game in Toronto, is not playing vs. Florida, along with Jason Arnott and defenseman Scott Hannan.

They’re all listed as “day-to-day,” according to the team.

That means Sean Collins and Tyler Sloan are both in the lineup, along with Jay Beagle.

Semyon Varlamov is in net as the Caps give Michal Neuvirth a night off after he beat the Maple Leafs.
