Did Mike Green have a setback?

It looked like Mike Green was making progress in his rehab from a strained right groin. After getting some time off over the weekend, the Capitals defenseman skated four straight days from Monday through Thursday.

Then he was nowhere to be found Friday and Saturday as his teammates practiced, including Jay Beagle, who’s taking steps forward on the way back from a concussion.

Dale Hunter said twice that Green did not have a setback.

“We’re doing different things on the ice and off the ice,” the coach said Saturday. “So we’re going both ways with it – so a couple days off the ice and we’ll go from there.”

Green posted on Twitter on Sunday night: “Always wear socks to the airport. Damn I’m a rookie. #dummie”

It was not immediately clear why he was flying, or where he was going.

Green has now missed 14 games since injuring his groin Nov. 11 at the New Jersey Devils in an awkward collision with Ryan Carter.

In total, the Caps have been without Green for 20 of 28 games this season. They’re 8-0-0 with him in the lineup and 7-12-1 without him.
