Claude Giroux will not be in the Philadelphia Flyers’ lineup Tuesday when they visit the Washington Capitals.

Giroux, the NHL’s leading scorer with 39 points, took an inadvertent knee to the head from teammate Wayne Simmonds on Saturday night and did not return to the game.

“Claude is continuing to feel better,” Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren said Monday. “He will not travel with the team today and will be seen by our doctor again tomorrow.”

Giroux declined to speak to reporters at the practice facility in Voorhees, N.J.

The Flyers are expected to dress Jody Shelley in his place, with rookie Sean Couturier taking Giroux’s spot on the top line between Scott Hartnell and Jaromir Jagr.

Here are the lines from Monday, courtesy Philly Sports Daily’s Dave Isaac:

Scott Hartnell - Sean Couturier - Jaromir Jagr

Harry Zolnierczyk - Danny Briere - Wayne Simmonds

James van Riemsdyk - Max Talbot - Jakub Voracek

Jody Shelley - Matt Read - Zac Rinaldo
