SUNRISE, Fla. | Alexander Semin was out of the Washington Capitals’ lineup Monday, the second straight game he has missed.
Semin has been nursing a right-shoulder injury.
Earlier in the day, coach Dale Hunter sounded optimistic about the Russian forward’s status, even as it was clear from reading between the lines that he wouldn’t play against the Florida Panthers.
“He’s ready to go,” Hunter said. “So we are going to make a game-time decision who’s going to sit out.”
That decision, made obviously before game time, was that Semin would sit out. He did not take part in warmups, along with defenseman Roman Hamrlik, who’s day-to-day with a lower-body injury.
