SUNRISE, Fla. | Matt Hendricks‘ ice time Monday night against the Florida Panthers was conspicuously low. It was already down in the first few games under new Capitals coach Dale Hunter, but 4:22 seemed to indicate a problem.

Hendricks did not play at all in the third period of the Caps’ 5-4 loss at BankAtlantic Center and then was not on the ice for Tuesday’s practice. Hunter said he’s day-to-day with a lower-body injury.

Hendricks, who could be seen limping around Tuesday, declined to talk to reporters.

Hendricks has only hit the 10-minute mark in ice once in the past six games, and that was 10:01 against the Ottawa Senators on Saturday. He has no goals, three assists, a minus-1 rating and 30 penalty minutes this season. He’s the only Caps forward, aside from the injured Beagle, without a goal.

He was in the locker room and didn’t appear to be in visible pain after Monday night’s game.
