SUNRISE, Fla. | Welcome to the wild, wacky and wounded world of the Washington Capitals. Tuesday brought some comforting news back and Kettler but there was more uncertainty with the team at BankAtlantic Center in South Florida.

Roman Hamrlik’s status remains unclear, while Matt Hendricks missed practice with what coach Dale Hunter called a lower-body injury. It does seem like Alexander Semin will return to the Caps’ lineup Wednesday at the Ottawa Senators, though.

Meanwhile, back home, Mike Green (groin) and Jay Beagle (concussion) both skated Monday and Tuesday, a team spokesman said. There is no timetable for either to return to the lineup.

Hamrlik skated Monday and Tuesday with the Caps and said he’s feeling better. Coach Dale Hunter continued to call the 37-year-old defenseman “day-to-day” and Hamrlik wasn’t sure about playing Wednesday night.

It’s much better and see how I feel tomorrow morning, and I’ll go from there,” he said.

Hamrlik, who missed Thursday night’s game, Friday’s practice, Saturday’s morning skate and Saturday’s game, was asked if he suffered the lower-body injury at Thursday’s morning skate.

Yeah pretty much – that’s what happened,” he said. “At morning skate, yeah.”

He confirmed he was not being bothered by the groin injury that caused him to miss conditioning testing at the beginning of training camp. As for practices this week, Hamrlik appears to be easing himself along.

Every day you go a little bit better, a little bit more and see how that feels,” he said. “I just try to push it every day a little bit more and go from there. I hope it’s nothing serious and when I’m 100 percent, I’m getting close. We’ll see how we feel tomorrow.”

Hendricks is day-to-day with a lower-body injury, Hunter said. The forward who has zero goals this season and did not play in the third period Monday, declined to speak with reporters.

Here were Caps’ lines at practice:

Alex Ovechkin – Nicklas Backstrom – Alexander Semin

Troy Brouwer – Marcus Johansson – Jeff Halpern

Jason Chimera – Brooks Laich – Joel Ward

Cody Eakin – Mathieu Perreault – Mike Knuble
