The Washington Capitals’ practice Thursday wasn’t really a practice. It was more of a light skate and very, very optional.
Only seven players were on the ice: Mathieu Perreault, Cody Eakin, Jeff Schultz, Roman Hamrlik, Mike Green, Jay Beagle and Michal Neuvirth.
It’s good that Green (groin) and Beagle (concussion) were back out there for the fourth straight day. But both players said there was nothing new to report as far as an update.
Green would like to be out there with teammates soon but doesn’t know when that’ll happen. Asked about a timetable for the All-Star defenseman, coach Dale Hunter was predictably not expansive.
“No, not right now,” he said.
Beagle was catching his breath as he came off the ice, which seemed to indicate pushing himself harder than Saturday, when he returned to skating for the first time in three weeks. But he said he’s taking things day by day.
