So much for the Capitals being done with free agent offers. George McPhee pulled off a stunner Saturday evening by signing goaltender Tomas Vokoun to a one-year, $1.5 million deal.
It’ll be Vokoun and Michal Neuvirth instead of Neuvirth and Braden Holtby. This also means the Caps will be tighter against the salary cap. Here’s a possible roster, assuming the following things:
1. Restricted free agents Troy Brouwer (estimating $1.4 million) and Karl Alzner (estimating $2.5 million) are re-signed.
2. Tom Poti is placed on long-term injured reserve.
3. Sean Collins is waived and sent to Hershey.
