George McPhee wasn’t done signing free agents, after all.
On Saturday morning, the Capitals announced they signed left wing Chris Bourque to a one-year deal. Yes, the same Chris Bourque who was Washington’s second-round pick in 2004 before spending almost six years in the organization.
The diminutive forward (he’s generously listed at 5-foot-8) spent last season in Europe. He criticized the Caps last year in an interview with a Russian news agency for not giving him a chance. Now he’s back, likely to play for the Hershey Bears in the AHL.
Bourque has already played five seasons with Hershey and was Calder Cup Playoff MVP in 2010.
