The Capitals can say a quick goodbye to Jason Arnott. There was never a high chance that he would return, and now it’s official.
Arnott on Wednesday signed a one-year deal with the Blues worth just under $3 million. The 36-year-old center signed with St. Louis the same day as fellow free agent and former teammate Jamie Langenbrunner.
In 11 regular-season games with the Caps, Arnott had four goals and three assists. In nine playoff games he had just one goal and five assists. He was slowed by a knee injury late in the season.
Washington traded David Steckel and its 2012 second-round pick to the Devils for Arnott at the trade deadline.
