While the Capitals made a big statement in keeping their core together by re-signing Brooks Laich, they could be changing out a lot of role players.

Two unrestricted free agents – left wing Marco Sturm and right wing Matt Bradley – don’t figure to be back, as the team hasn’t made an offer to either, according to agent Larry Kelly, who represents both players. Kelly provided the information to The Washington Times in an email response.

The Caps plucked Sturm off waivers in February. Since, the 32-year-old managed 19 points in 44 regular-season and playoff games.

Bradley has been in Washington since the 2005-06 season, and his toughness and quiet locker room leadership will be missed if he does indeed depart. He had four goals in the regular season this past year for the Caps.

Bradley not receiving an offer was first reported by the blog Russian Machine Never Breaks.
