OTTAWA – Long after most Capitals players left the ice and even Scotiabank Place, Eric Fehr remained on the ice with seventh defenseman Tyler Sloan and the assistant coaches.

“I don’t think I’m gonna play tonight,” Fehr conceded.

That was the scratches skate and Fehr will be a scratch Friday night at the Senators, just three days removed from his return to the lineup in Philadelphia. The winger who had been bothered by a shoulder injury didn’t say what was keeping him out of this game.

Fehr played just 9:26 against the Flyers, with his last shift coming with five minutes left in the third period. He didn’t play at all in overtime.

Asked about Fehr on Wednesday, Boudreau said: “He’s OK. He made it through the game [in Philadelphia].”

But it’ll be D.J. King in the lineup for the Caps on Friday night.
