Here’s what Bruce Boudreau, Alex Ovechkin, Jason Arnott, Mike Green and Tom Poti had to say Monday in this Caps episode of “All About Injuries.”

Bruce Boudreau

On Ovechkin and Arnott

“They skated pretty good today, so they’re getting closer. … I haven’t talked to [trainer Greg Smith] about the actual timeline right now, but they skated really well as part of practice and looked good.”

On Green

“These things have been so touchy. It’s such a touchy situation these days, and we’ll just go with whatever Greg says, and if it’s slower than he’d want, it’s unfortunately. If they feel that he’s ready to go, then he’ll be able to practice. … Not just Mike – anybody that gets these things now, you gotta be sure. They’re becoming dangerously dangerous things in our sport, for sure.”

On Ovechkin

“Ovi’s not just taking a week off cause he feels like taking a week off. His injuries necessitated that he takes time off; we just haven’t disclosed what it was, so people are writing that he just needs time off.”

Alex Ovechkin (full transcript here)

On what he’s looking for while practicing

“I just skating over there, like see if it bothers me or not. It’s not bothering me. I think I’m ready to go.”

On being able to play Tuesday night

“I don’t know. It’s not my decision. Like I said, I’m ready to go but I was gonna work on it. I don’t know; we’ll see tomorrow.”

On being 100 percent

“Everybody wants to be 100 percent but right now it’s time to recover best from what happened to you. Again, I feel good.”

Jason Arnott

On if playing by end of week was realistic

“I think so. We had some good skates while the team was gone. We’ll just have to see how it goes.”

On Caps without him on road

“They played great. Everybody chipped in where they needed to be. We got great goaltending and that’s the key. Coming down the stretch you got to play solid defensively and I think they did a great job at it – especially our goaltending they played outstanding.”

Mike Green

“It’s been day-to-day here, so the most important thing is that I am getting better. And it just takes time. The only thing I can do is rest, but it’s nice to get back out on the ice today.”

On still having symptoms

“Here and there, but nothing that’s progressing to get worse. It’s always getting better, so we’ve done a great job here with the trainers and the staff of taking the right procedures for me to get better. The unfortunate part is that it does take time.”

On timeline

“There is like a protocol that you have to follow, so hopefully this week I’ll be able to get out and get a full practice and get that under my belt so that I can move forward and take some tests and get back in the game. There’s no way to tell; we’ll see how it goes this week.”

Tom Poti

On setting deadlines for yourself

“It’s kinda more pressure than anything if you set a deadline. It kinda comes and goes. …Yeah, it’s more mental and trying to take it day by day – just waking up every day, hoping it feels better.”

On improving

“It’s definitely getting a little better. I’m able to participate in practices and not reinjure it. It’s definitely getting better, but it’s not where it needs to be right now.”

On returning

“I’m shooting to definitely try to play some games before the playoffs. That’s my goal, and I’m looking forward to it. But I’m just taking it day by day right now.”
