TAMPA, Fla. | Bruce Boudreau has bristled at questions about his job security since December, when an eight-game losing streak brought criticism from all corners.

With the Capitals facing a possible sweep and premature elimination as the top seed in Wednesday night’s Game 4 against the Lightning at St. Pete Times Forum, the last thing Boudreau wanted to talk about was his job being on the line.

“Listen you guys have been asking me that all year,” Boudreau said. Is your job on the line? Well then, I don’t wanna answer that.”

He then muttered under his breath, “Stupid question, stupid.”

Defenseman Karl Alzner said the ramifications of what a loss and postseason exit could mean for the roster and his coach isn’t at the forefront of his mind.

“I don’t really think about that all that much,” Alzner said. “That’s not my job to think about anything along those lines.”
