Mike Green, officially, remains a question mark, though there are possible signs that the All-Star defenseman could return to the Capitals lineup either Friday at the Devils or home against them.

Green took part in yet another full practice Thursday and worked the entire time with partner Roman Hamrlik.

“I’m getting better each day,” he said. “Finally I think I’m getting close. We’ll see what the docs say today and tomorrow and we’ll go from there.”

Coach Bruce Boudreau would not commit one way or another, noting that he’s “more optimistic every day.” There seems to be no set plan.

“Anything is hypothetical and it’s all possible. I guess if he played Friday, we’d see how he was Friday and make a determination after that,” Boudreau said. “There’s never any, ‘Well, he’s playing both for sure, he’s playing one for sure.’ If he doesn’t feel good enough in Friday’s skate, then we’ll put it off and hopefully he’ll be there to go Saturday.”
