Mike Green suffered a right groin strain late in the first period Nov. 11 at the New Jersey Devils. He took one power-play shift in the second but did not return after that.
He hasn’t skated since.
Asked if there was an update on Green, coach Bruce Boudreau said, “None.”
Boudreau had said twice recently that he hoped the All-Star defenseman would be able to start skating this week. Asked Wednesday if that was still the case, Boudreau said, “I don’t know yet.”
It’s not good. But Green’s injury is not believed to be season- or career-threatening, according to a person with knowledge of the defenseman’s situation.
The Caps are 8-0-0 with Green in the lineup and 3-7-1 without him. They’re still officially listing him as day-to-day, but there’s no reason to believe that’s his actual status. Friday will mark two weeks off the ice since the injury.
