Even though Bruce Boudreau is now the former Washington Capitals coach, it’s fitting that his picture remains part of the team’s listing on Forbes Magazine’s website.
Forbes came out with its annual ranking of NHL franchise values, and the Caps came in 12th at $225 million, a major leap from last season as Boudreau, Alex Ovechkin and company continued to make Washington a popular team locally and nationally.
That value is up 14 percent from last season, the second biggest jump among U.S. teams.
Owner Ted Leonsis bought the Caps for $85 million in 1999. Yearly revenue now tops that at $94 million, according to Forbes.
