Jim Johnson became the newest member of the Washington Capitals’ coaching staff, but that’s it for change in a tumultuous week.

A team spokesman confirmed that assistants Dean Evason and Blaine Forsythe will remain. It was Hunter’s call to replace Bob Woods with Johnson, a former teammate of his. Ex-coach Bruce Boudreau said he realizes that Dale Hunter wants his own person in place.

Very understandable that Dale wants his own guys where he feels comfortable with, as I did with Bob when I came in and Jay Leach was relieved of his duties,” Boudreau said. “He understands as well.”
