RALEIGH, N.C. | How much anyone wants to read into a morning skate is a matter of personal preference, but the Capitals appeared to have good news Friday at RBC Center as Troy Brouwer and Mike Green were both on the ice.

Brouwer (apparent right shoulder injury) was considered a good bet to play this weekend, a source said earlier in the week. Coach Bruce Boudreau said he would definitely make the trip, as would Green.

But Boudreau was less optimistic about Green’s chances of playing, given his right ankle injury. The defenseman is out against the Hurricanes and doubtful for Saturday.

Brouwer’s status remains uncertain.

Back home at Kettler, a Caps spokesman confirmed that Jay Beagle (concussion) did in fact skate as he had planned on. That’s a good sign all around.
