Jay Beagle has several steps from not skating at all to getting back into the Capitals lineup. Friday, he returned to skating by himself and did that again over the weekend.

It seemed like Beagle would make the next leap to skating with teammates Tuesday, but he skated solo yet again, as he has not yet been cleared for practice contact.

Beagle skating by himself was not a setback but the plan all along.

“He’s probably going to be [skating by himself], I don’t know, for the next few days just as he ramps it up,” coach Bruce Boudreau said.

Beagle skated Friday for the first time since suffering a concussion Oct. 13 in Pittsburgh. According to Boudreau, Beagle skated one more time this past weekend and had a “heavy” off-ice workout with strength and conditioning coach Mark Nemish Monday.
