On Friday, concerns about Jay Beagle and a possible concussion were allayed, as Bruce Boudreau said the Capitals forward wasn’t experiencing any symptoms. Then came Saturday, when Beagle was not on the ice for the morning skate.
Still, the coach said not to worry.
“I don’t know how to say it – we’re just being overly cautious,” Boudreau said. “If Jay had his way, he’d be out there practicing.”
But the important part was Beagle not appearing to show symptoms – though the Caps are making sure he does not.
“He’s fine. All the things are fine. With only the one game he knew he wasn’t going to play, there was no sense in him going on the ice,” Boudreau said. “We’re giving it a couple days to see if any symptoms arise. But as far as training staff and everything goes, the swelling has even gone down and he’s looking fine.”
Beagle was not made available to speak to reporters.
