Bruce Boudreau continues to say Jay Beagle is fine

There’s not much updating to do on Jay Beagle’s status. Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau said the forward is still day-to-day.

And while Beagle again did not practice Monday (he hasn’t skated with the team since his fight with Arron Asham on Thursday night), Boudreau said he’s around all the time getting treatment behind the scenes.

“He’s feeling fine,” Boudreau said. “This is just the protocol that keeps going.”

When those around the NHL use the word “protocol,” it’s usually in regards to concussion and head injury protocol. Boudreau said the Caps were using the league’s protocol and their own.

As for when Beagle can return to practice, Boudreau said he hasn’t discussed that with trainer Greg Smith.
