VANCOUVER | It appears the Capitals will have to do without Mike Green for at least one more game - and possibly more.
Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau seemed to rule out the possibility that All-Star defenseman would play Saturday against the Vancouver Canucks.
“I doubt it,” Boudreau said. “He hasn’t skated for six days now.”
Green’s absence from practice with a twisted right ankle has become something of a pattern. And it could continue for a bit of time now. Boudreau doesn’t have a solid timeline, but his answer when asked about a return didn’t sound great.
“God, I wish I had that crystal ball,” Boudreau said. “I’m hoping he’s back by next weekend.”
If that’s indeed the case, Green would miss not only Saturday’s game but Tuesday’s back home against the Anaheim Ducks. The Caps travel to face the Carolina Hurricanes and then the New York Islanders next Friday and Saturday.
Sean Collins played 12:45 in his season debut Thursday night in Edmonton.
