VANCOUVER | Alexander Edler had a heck of a night for the Vancouver Canucks as they beat the Washington Capitals 7-4. But tripping Mike Knuble on a breakaway at the 5:07 mark of the second wasn’t his best moment.

What followed wasn’t Roberto Luongo’s finest, either. Knuble got a penalty shot and took aim at Luongo’s glove. It hit the glove, popped into the air and finally over the goal line as the gold medal-winning goaltender leapt back unsuccessfully to try to stop it.

“There’s a lot of things going through your head at that point,” Knuble said. “You’re just trying to hit the net – make him make the save.”

Meanwhile (video below), Knuble’s idea of a curtain call was sliding into the boards.

“It looked like of goofy, but it went in,” he said.

Knuble’s goal tied the score at 3-3, giving the Caps a chance to stay in the game.
