Barring 'miracle' Mike Green out for Caps vs. Ducks

Mike Green still has a limp. It’s an idea that has been around for too long for the Capitals.

And the defenseman again missed practice Monday – for the seventh straight day of workouts – with a twisted right ankle.

Coach Bruce Boudreau all but ruled Green out for Tuesday’s game against the Anaheim Ducks.

“He’s improving. He’s just not going on the ice yet,” Boudreau said. “So it’d suffice to say he probably won’t be playing tomorrow – unless we have a miracle.”

Barring a miracle, it’ll be the same six defensemen who played on the trip: Karl Alzner with John Carlson, Roman Hamrlik with Dennis Wideman and Jeff Schultz with Sean Collins.

Green hasn’t played since twisting his ankle while getting hit in the face with a puck Oct. 22 vs. Detroit.
