Last week Bruce Boudreau foreshadowed that the lines the Capitals put on the ice on Tuesday, Oct. 4 would be an indication of how the team will start Saturday against the Hurricanes.

If that’s the case, this should be fun.

Here are the lines:

(In red): Alex Ovechkin – Nicklas Backstrom – Mike Knuble

(in gray): Alexander Semin – Mathieu Perreault – Troy Brouwer

(in green): Jason Chimera – Brooks Laich – Marcus Johansson – Joel Ward

(in white): D.J. King – Matt Hendricks – Jeff Halpern – Jay Beagle

And D-pairings:

Karl Alzner – John Carlson

Roman Hamrlik – Mike Green

Jeff Schultz – Dennis Wideman

Now, it’s possible the departure of Ovechkin this week after the death of an uncle is the reason for the odd lineup. More after talking to Boudreau.
