Bruce Boudreau wants to play his regulars often this preseason, and he likes a small group around Kettler, so Friday’s cuts came as no surprise. The Hershey Bears open camp officially this Sunday, and five guys expected to be mainstays there are on their way.

The Caps on Friday assigned defensemen Brett Flemming and Julien Brouillette and forwards Joel Rechlicz, Andrew Carroll and Jacob Micflikier to their AHL affiliate.

A few more Bears cuts should come this weekend, including Matthew Ford, Keith Aucoin and perhaps Dmitry Orlov. According to Tim Leone of the Patriot-News in Harrisburg, Orlov and Brouillette could be paired together in Hershey, so being together there could help them develop some chemistry.
