Capitals coach Bruce Boudreau likes a small group as the preseason winds down, so it was no shock to see a handful more guys get sent to the Hershey Bears on Sunday.

The Caps sent goaltender Braden Holtby, defensemen Patrick Wellar and Danny Richmond and forwards Christian Hanson, Ryan Potulny and Matthew Ford to the Bears just in time for the start of that camp Monday.


Hanson, Potulny and Richmond will have to clear waivers.

After these cuts, the Caps are down to 29 players in camp (not counting Tom Poti) – 17 forwards, 10 defensemen and two goalies. The full list is below:
