The Capitals are taking it very easy this preseason when it comes to injuries. When Roman Hamrlik had some groin tightness on Day One, he didn’t do the conditioning test the rest of his teammates did.

More recently, Jason Chimera left the ice Friday and Brooks Laich Sunday, though coach Bruce Boudreau is calling both precautionary.

Chimera was back on the ice Monday, though he won’t play against the Blue Jackets Monday night. He said he just “tweaked” something a little bit - “nothing major.”

Bruce, he goes, ‘Don’t push it, no need to push it.’ Lucky since it’s preseason,” Chimera said. “Regular season I probably would’ve played.”

Laich did not skate Monday after Boudreau said he was “tight” Sunday.

He’ll probably skate [Tuesday],” the coach said.
