Let’s get interesting with line combinations. If Tuesday’s practice was any indication, Chris Bourque is a serious candidate (even more serious than anyone thought) to fill the Capitals’ final roster spot.

OK, maybe not.

“That was a line that wasn’t playing [Wednesday],” coach Bruce Boudreau said.

Duly noted. Predators fans, don’t expect to see Bourque, Alex Ovechkin or Marcus Johansson in Nashville.

Still, here’s a look at the lines and combinations:

Alex Ovechkin – Marcus Johansson – Chris Bourque (burgundy)

Alexander Semin – Nicklas Backstrom – Joel Ward (red)

Brooks Laich – Mathieu Perreault – Troy Brouwer (gray)

Cody Eakin/D.J. King – Jay Beagle – Matt Hendricks (white)

Jason Chimera – Jeff Halpern/Mattias Sjogren – Mike Knuble (green)

Karl Alzner – John Carlson

Jeff Schultz – Mike Green

Roman Hamrlik – Dennis Wideman

John Erskine (orange no-contact jersey) – Sean Collins

Dmitry Orlov – Patrick McNeill
