In addition to the unpopular white safety netting, some Capitals fans at Verizon Center on Monday night noticed another change: Many banners were not hanging from the rafters.
Thanks to reader Peter Robbio, who contacted the team, we have an answer: The banners were starting to fold in around the bottom corners, so the Caps sent them back to the banner company to be fixed, according to vice president and chief marketing officer Joe Dupriest.
Dupriest confirmed that in an email to The Washington Times, adding that the banners came back either Wednesday or Thursday.
“I assume the problem will be fixed although I don’t think most fans even noticed an issue,” Dupriest wrote.
Some fans did look up and see the banners not there, an issue that will be be rectified soon.
“ They will definitely be back up by opening night,” he said.
Another mystery solved.
