As the Washington Capitals prepare to open the playoffs at the Boston Bruins, they were without Alexander Semin for Monday’s practice. Semin was the only healthy skater not on the ice.

Semin was taking a maintenance day, a team spokesman said.

Michal Neuvirth skated 15 minutes before practice, but the Caps recalled journeyman goaltender Dany Sabourin from the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League. Sabourin was the second goalie on the ice for practice, joining likely playoff starter Braden Holtby.

The lines got a bit of a jumble for Monday’s practice, with two big guys in Troy Brouwer and Brooks Laich joining Alex Ovechkin.

“I just change a few if the matchup’s not there. It’s always one guy or two. Basically, it’s just same kind of lines. With injuries coming back definitely there’s going to be changes,” coach Dale Hunter said. “With Nicky coming back there’s been changes. But before that it’s been pretty steady except for one or two guys.”

Here’s a look at the lines and defensive pairs:

Jason Chimera - Nicklas Backstrom - Mike Knuble (likely replacing Alexander Semin)

Alex Ovechkin - Brooks Laich - Troy Brouwer

Matt Hendricks - Jay Beagle - Marcus Johansson

Keith Aucoin - Mathieu Perreault - Joel Ward / Cody Eakin - Jeff Halpern

Karl Alzner - John Carlson

Roman Hamrlik - Mike Green

Jeff Schultz - Dennis Wideman

John Erskine - Dmitry Orlov
