SUNRISE, Fla. | Back-to-back road games meant not a whole lot of Washington Capitals players took the opportunity to skate Wednesday morning at BankAtlantic Center.

Just nine guys were on the ice with the assistant coaches: Joel Rechlicz, Cody Eakin, Jay Beagle, Joel Ward, Alex Ovechkin, Jason Chimera, Jeff Schultz, John Erskine and Michal Neuvirth.

Expect Rechlicz to be back in the lineup at the Florida Panthers. Beagle was the healthy scratch forward to get the 24-year-old enforcer in the lineup Tuesday. He played two shifts for 1:49.

Tomas Vokoun has played 13 of the past 15 games and stopped 27 of the 31 shots he faced Tuesday night in an overtime loss at the Tampa Bay Lightning. It’s unclear if he’ll start vs. Florida.

Asked Tuesday about the possibility of Vokoun starting both games on the back-to-back Florida swing, coach Dale Hunter was noncommittal.

“But Tomas is a veteran and whatever I ask, he’ll do,” Hunter said.
