PITTSBURGH | Welcome back to the net, Michal Neuvirth. The 23-year-old goaltender starts for the Washington Capitals on Sunday afternoon at the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Neuvirth made 31 saves in shutting out the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday night, but the plan all along was to go with Tomas Vokoun on Friday night at the Carolina Hurricanes. Vokoun made 30 saves in a losing effort.

Coach Dale Hunter said before that game he also knew who would get the nod against the Penguins. Turns out to be Neuvirth.

Both goalies, they’ve played well. Neuvy had a good game, and Tomas again had a good game in Carolina. It’s a luxury of both goalies going well,” he said. “It’s actually a hard choice if you’re the coach now. Sometimes it can be an easy choice, but this is a hard choice.”

Marc-Andre Fleury starts for Pittsburgh. He’s making an appearance in his 21st straight game.

A full six-day rest or five-and-a-half-day rest coming up certainly plays into that equation,” Penguins coach Dan Bylsma said.

Some interesting lines, as Marcus Johansson appears to be out. Also John Erskine in over Tomas Kundratek.
