OTTAWA | Even in Scotiabank Place, things were pretty dull during the NHL SuperSkills Competition on Saturday night. The breakaway challenge was supposed to spice things up, with Alex Ovechkin’s 2009 performance in Montreal setting an entertaining precedent.

Then came Patrick Kane, Marian Hossa and a red cape. Going to attempt his shot, Kane stopped as his Chicago Blackhawks teammate tied the cape onto him. Dressed like Superman, Kane made a diving Superman move to win the competition.


“He’s pretty clever though, he’s pretty shifty,” Canadiens goaltender Carey Price said.

Added Calgary Flames captain Jarome Iginla: “It’s pretty impressive. Every year there;s always something new. … Every year has been impressive and something new and fun.”
