Nicklas Backstrom took an elbow to the head Tuesday night, and though he stayed in the game for three more shifts had to leave with a very apparent head injury.
But on Wednesday morning, coach Dale Hunter did not go as far as calling Backstrom’s injury a concussion.
Asked if the Caps’ leading scorer underwent a concussion test, as reported by Kristoffer Backstrom on Twitter, Hunter said: “He basically worked out and we’ll see how he feels.”
Asked if there was any indication of a concussion, Hunter said: “No. No. We’re evaluating. It’s one of those things where you evaluate it for a few days and see how he is.”
Asked about how Backstrom was doing Wednesday morning, Hunter said: “He’s fine. He’s still got to be evaluated.”
