SAN JOSE, Calif. | Alexander Semin’s brief absence from game action for the Washington Capitals may be coming to an end Saturday night at the San Jose Sharks.

The Russian winger who missed Tuesday’s game against the Calgary Flames practiced again Friday at HP Pavilion, though he did so on the fourth line alongside Matt Hendricks, Mathieu Perreault and Jay Beagle.

Asked if Semin would play against the Sharks, coach Dale Hunter replied: “Yeah, he’s ready to go now.”

When another reporter followed up about Mathieu Perreault’s status (he’s healthy and it has been a week and a half since taking a stick to the midsection), Hunter said: “I don’t know the lineup yet.”

Semin has seven points in the past five games he has played.
