Capitals morning skate update: Erskine back in

← return to Capitals Watch

LOS ANGELES | Not much has changed from Saturday night for the Washington Capitals, and that’s not a good thing. They’ll go with the same forward lines Monday night as in their 5-2 loss to the San Jose Sharks.

That, of course, means no Nicklas Backstrom, who was sent back to the D.C. area early, along with defenseman Mike Green. The defensive pairs get a minor tweak because of Green aggravating his groin, with John Erskine stepping back in.

The line rushes and D-pairs from the morning skate at Staples Center:

Alex Ovechkin - Brooks Laich - Troy Brouwer

Alexander Semin - Marcus Johansson - Mike Knuble

Jason Chimera - Jeff Halpern - Joel Ward

Matt Hendricks - Mathieu Perreault - Jay Beagle

Karl Alzner - John Carlson

Roman Hamrlik - Dennis Wideman

John Erskine - Dmitry Orlov

Expect Tomas Vokoun to make his sixth straight start. Vokoun has a .941 save percentage in those five starts.
