Jason Chimera was the only Washington Capitals player not on the ice for Wednesday morning’s practice. No reason for alarm, though, as a spokesman said he was taking a “maintenance day.”
“Yeah, just maintenance,” coach Dale Hunter said. “He’ll play tomorrow.”
Chimera, 32, is one goal away from tying his career high of 17. He’s sitting on 16 goals and 15 assists but hasn’t scored since Feb. 24.
Thursday night against the Tampa Bay Lightning, Chimera is expected to again play on a line with Mathieu Perreault and Alexander Semin. The other lines remained the same at Wednesday’s practice: Alex Ovechkin with Brooks Laich and Marcus Johansson, Matt Hendricks with Jay Beagle and Troy Brouwer and Keith Aucoin with Jeff Halpern, Joel Ward and Mike Knuble.
