The Washington Capitals used a 2008 draft pick acquired from the Philadelphia Flyers to take defenseman John Carlson. The Flyers got Steve Eminger in return.
Saturday night, more than four years later, Carlson will play for a Philadelphia team. No, not the Flyers, but he’ll be on the Philly side in the Operation Hat Trick charity game in Atlantic City. Ex-Caps and current Rangers center Jeff Halpern is set to play for the New York team.
The game is 7 p.m. at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J., and it benefits Hurricane Sandy victims. Specifically, proceeds go to the Empire Relief Fund, NJ Hurricane Relief Fund and American Red Cross.
It’s about a 3 1/2-hour drive from the D.C. area to Atlantic City. The game will be broadcast on 97.3 FM in Philadelphia. Live stream can be found here.
