Tomas Kundratek tested his injured right leg before the Washington Capitals’ optional morning skate Sunday, and Matt Hendricks spent some time on the ice after suffering an apparent right hand injury Saturday afternoon while fighting the Boston Bruins.
Kundratek skated for less than 10 minutes before leaving.
He had an MRI on Friday after getting hurt Thursday night at the Carolina Hurricanes. He did not travel to Boston, and his timeline to return is unclear.
Hendricks left Saturday’s game after his second fight of the afternoon. It was not surprising that he took part in the optional skate after playing just 8:22 against the Bruins.
Hendricks said he was good to go for Sunday night’s game against the Buffalo Bruins.
Sunday’s was a well-attended practice. Only six players chose not to take part: forwards Alex Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom, Mike Ribeiro, Jason Chimera and Joel Ward.
Braden Holtby was the first goaltender off and will start.
Aaron Volpatti and Wojtek Wolski stayed on for extra work and are expected to be the healthy scratches. Mathieu Perreault should be back in the lineup against Buffalo.
Defenseman John Erskine did not skate, so it’s extremely unlikely that he plays.
