Eric Fehr will miss Tuesday night’s game against the New York Islanders and is being called day-to-day by the Washington Capitals with an upper-body injury.

Coach Adam Oates said Monday that Fehr’s injury was not to either of his shoulders. Fehr has had three shoulder surgeries, so that appeared to be good news.

Oates said Tuesday he was hopeful Fehr would play by this weekend. The Caps visit the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday and the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday.

Wojtek Wolski was expected to replace Fehr in the lineup. Wolski was a healthy scratch for seven games in a row and eight of the past nine.

Wolski has four goals and four assists in 23 games. He hasn’t played since March 12 against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Oates said he wants Wolski to play like he did when he was in the lineup before.

“Obviously with the roster and the numbers he got eased out there,” the Caps’ coach said. “But when he jumped in he played good and I expect that tonight.”

Aside from Wolski for Fehr, the Caps will feature the same lineup from Sunday night’s shootout victory at the New York Rangers. That means Braden Holtby will make his sixth straight start in goal.

Michal Neuvirth will start at the Sabres or Flyers, Oates said.

Here’s a look at Tuesday night’s lineup:

Marcus Johansson - Nicklas Backstrom - Alex Ovechkin

Brooks Laich - Mike Ribeiro - Troy Brouwer

Jason Chimera - Mathieu Perreault - Wojtek Wolski

Matt Hendricks - Jay Beagle - Joel Ward

Karl Alzner - Mike Green

Jack Hillen - John Carlson

Dmitry Orlov - Steve Oleksy
