Capitals prospect Tomas Kundratek has been diagnosed with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and likely will miss the rest of the season, The Patriot-News reports.
The defenseman was injured Sunday in AHL Hershey’s game against Binghamton. He will need surgery on the knee but his timetable for a return is uncertain.
“Every person is different,” Kundratek told The Patriot-News. “Every tear is different. I have no idea how long it is going to be. It could be three months to the end of the season.”
Kundratek, who turns 24 next month, has appeared in 30 games for the Capitals — 25 of them coming last season. He has one NHL goal and six assists.
