The Nationals are only down 1-0 after three innings, but it probably should be worse the way they’ve played so far.

Adam Dunn has already made two errors at first base, including missing a Ross Detwiler pickoff throw that allowed Dexter Fowler to advance to second in the third inning. The Rockies got two more hits off Detwiler, but stranded Todd Helton at third.

Detwiler hasn’t been sharp so far—he’s already thrown 60 pitches and walked two.

The Nationals also ran their way out of a possible run when Nyjer Morgan was thrown out at third with none out in the first inning. Morgan took off on a hit-and-run as Alberto Gonzalez singled to third, but was gunned down by Ryan Spilborghs.
