The Nationals cut 11 players from major-league camp this morning, trimming the spring training roster to 47. Not a ton of huge surprises in the group — mostly minor-leaguers who won’t get enough time to play now that the Nats are giving their regulars a little more time.
Here’s the list: right-hander Josh Towers, infielders Freddie Bynum and Joel Guzman and outfielder Jorge Padilla were reassigned to minor-league camp. Right-handers Tyler Clippard and Marco Estrada were optioned to Class AAA Syracuse, as were outfielders Leonard Davis and Justin Maxwell. Right-hander Luis Atilano and shortstop Ian Desmond are headed to Class AA Harrisburg.
