It’s a cloudy and quiet Tuesday morning here at Space Coast Stadium, where the Nats are getting ready for an 11:00 intrasquad game on their day off. Here’s the news from Manny Acta’s morning press conference:
—Shawn Hill came out of his Monday start without any problem. He’ll actually be moved up a day and throw on three days’ rest, presumably so he doesn’t pitch on the same day as Jordan Zimmermann again. Acta said the plan is for Hill to throw two innings the next time out.
—Jesus Flores is starting to hit off a tee, and Acta is still confident he’ll have enough time to get ready for Opening Day.
—An MRI on Dmitri Young’s stiff back showed no structural damage, but he’ll continue to receive treatment until he can get out on the field.
The lineups for today’s intrasquad game are dotted with minor-leaguers, with the exception of the occasional Ronnie Belliard or Wily Mo Pena at DH. The game is mostly to keep the pitchers on schedule, Acta said, so don’t expect a lot of fireworks here today.
