Nats-Cards rained out [updated]

Well, you can’t say they didn’t try to get this one in. Ultimately, though, the rain just wouldn’t let up. And with plenty more headed this way, the Nationals decided they just couldn’t do it.

So we’ve got our second rainout of the young season. The game was just officially postponed.

No makeup date was announced, and it could be a while until they are able to figure out an appropriate alternate. The best possibility appears to be July 23, which is an off-day for the Nats in between home series and an off-day for the Cardinals in advance of a series at Philadelphia.

UPDATE AT 4:50 P.M.

The Nationals will bump back all their pitchers, so John Lannan now starts tomorrow against the Astros, with Scott Olsen pitching the Tuesday matinee.

Also, here is info in case you had tickets to today’s game, straight from the Nats’ press release…

“Season ticket holders and mini-plan holders for today’s postponed contest should retain their ticket and parking passes until notified regarding the rescheduling of this game.

“Those with individual game tickets (non-season tickets) may exchange their tickets for the same priced seat at any future 2009 Nationals home game, excluding the three-game series against the Boston Red Sox on June 23, 24 and 25. All rain check exchanges are subject to availability.

“Individual-game ticket holders can exchange their tickets at any Nationals Park box office. Nationals Park box office hours are Monday-Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

“Tickets purchased as part of today’s Youth Baseball Day parade and game may be exchanged for any other game this season with the exception of June 23, 24 and 25, based on availability. Those scheduled to participate in today’s youth baseball parade may be specifically interested in exchanging their tickets for Youth Baseball Day on Sunday, June 7. Prior to that 1:35 p.m. contest vs. the New York Mets, those groups scheduled to participate in this afternoon’s postponed parade will have access to a second youth baseball parade, based on availability. For more information regarding today’s Youth Baseball Day program and parade on June 7, please contact the Nationals Group Sales Department by calling (202) 675-NATS (6287) Option #1, then Option #3.”
